In 2022, Jody obtained her re-accreditation as an Exercise Physiologist, and after refreshing her clinical skills under the guidance of LifeCare HomeCare and 02 Active, she has returned to a full-time focus on her own business, continuing to follow her passion of supporting women at all stages of life, not only physically but also emotionally and mentally.
She feels strongly about supporting women of the general population, who do not have access to government funding, other than Medicare, but still require the support, education, and guidance to rehabilitate and be guided with movement, exercise and lifestyle choices to live life to the fullest on their terms, and not that of their bodies.
With a keen interest in supporting postpartum women, women with PCOS, endometriosis, infertility, breast cancer and those transitioning to menopause, Jody is keen to continue to connect and collaborate with other practitioners who have an interest in women’s health.

When I found MumaBubs on Facebook I was attending Physio fitness classes for Mums but needing more. When I started with training with Jody, by joining the 8-week NewMuma Program, I was apprehensive, as I didn’t feel the intensity of the training would be enough for me. At that time my main goals were to regain my post-baby body and to gain fitness to keep up with my family, particularly my 2 little boys. Jody showed me that what I thought was strength actually wasn’t and she helped to re-educate me by showing me other ways of training, that being for functional movement as opposed to ‘punishing’ my body with exercise. Since training with Jody I have improved my functional fitness, I have a better awareness of the importance of having a strong core and not just ‘abs’, and I have improved my strength and muscle tone. Jody has truly been such a huge support in my journey to accepting and taking better care of the body I have.

To give a little bit back to myself and my body after all that we’ve recently been through and are, in a way, still going through. I joined to get some body confidence back, help my mood and keep myself healthy so I can be the best mum for my son. Also - I just love feeling strong! Lifting weights gives me such a buzz!!! I only had a little self-doubt before working with Jody. “Will I show up every week?” “What if we’ve had a really rough night…” “how on earth can i make this work around bubs nap schedule?” But I do show up every week and we MAKE it work!!! It is still early days for me so there are no specific training achievements yet, however the sessions have helped me massively with feeling a bit blue/emotional and helped my energy levels. I kept looking at Jody’s website and FaceBook page and then finally reached. I’m so glad that I did! From our first conversation on the phone I knew I didn’t need to look any further. I just wanted to train safely as I was breastfeeding full time and was concerned about my pelvic floor. Jody knew straight away how we could train safely and how we could gradually progress. Training with Jody is the highlight of my week and it helps keep my mental health in check. I am also starting to feel a bit stronger and I like being able to take the time to reconnect with my body and pelvic floor. I kept looking at Jody’s website and FaceBook page and then finally reached. I’m so glad that I did! From our first conversation on the phone I knew I didn’t need to look any further. I just wanted to train safely as I was breastfeeding full time and was concerned about my pelvic floor. Jody knew straight away how we could train safely and how we could gradually progress. Training with Jody is the highlight of my week and it helps keep my mental health in check. I am also starting to feel a bit stronger and I like being able to take the time to reconnect with my body and pelvic floor. I love the small group sessions, connecting with other mum’s and, of course, the commitment Jody has to individualizing each part of the training to suit everyone. I’m a Mum, a health professional and a student. When I joined Body Empowerment with Jody I was feeling unhealthy and fatigued. My body felt weak but also tight, and I was getting frequent headaches and often experiencing shoulder & neck pain. My biggest concern was my pelvic floor prolapse which I sustained while giving birth. I had no confidence in knowing how best to improve my health and body strength without potentially worsening my prolapse. But for my long term health and wellbeing I knew I had to start moving. However, I was worried lifting weights and exercising would make it worse! Jody supported me with my concerns by being patient with my need to feel I had the basics right, such as using my breath to switch on and protect my pelvic floor muscles before introducing more strenuous training. Jody also considered how my hormone cycles and my life in general was affecting my energy levels and adjusting my workouts accordingly. Since beginning my training with Jody 7 months ago, I have noticed: * Increased strength - I can lift things more easily in my day-to-day life (shopping, gardening, chores).* I have more stamina to get through the day and achieve the things I want to do. * My posture has improved and with this muscle strength has come a reduction in the number of debilitating headaches. * I have the strength to increase my activity in other areas (walking more, taking the stairs instead of the lift). * My prolapse has not worsened, in fact my pelvic floor strength has increased as assessed by my pelvic floor physiotherapist. My body struggled with my third pregnancy and I needed to concentrate on my physical health. I am not a gym person and do not really enjoy aspects of a workout. I understand the need for exercise but do not enjoy it. But any reservations I had were alleviated as Jody was very considerate of my weaknesses and injuries. Her approach is gradual and respectful to the postpartum body, and every session is enjoyable, achievable and powerful! My main goals when I started was to build up my core strength safely to help with my pelvic floor issues and lower back. I also wanted to get fit and feel in shape again. Since working with Jody there are no excuses - I turn up, show up, try, achieve and leave! I love how I feel! I love how building up my upper back muscles has helped my lower back! And even though daily work around the house is busy, my body feels strong to achieve it! I love the personal sessions! I love that my kids are accepted and I don't need to leave them! I juggle a busy life between parenting my girls largely solo (due to Partner working a highly stressful, time demanding job), training my Clients and also trying to carve out time to fulfil my own goals and aspirations. I couldn't quite seem to get my mojo back after having my second child which left me feeling not quite myself and in a rut. There were also goals I wanted to achieve but felt they were just out of my reach due to postpartum issues and my fitness not being where I felt it needed to be. I also wanted the extra accountability and guidance that I know comes with having a Personal Trainer. I wasn't sure that Jody's style of training would be for me and was unsure if I'd get the results I was hoping for. Once I felt I got to know Jody more it was easier to trust the process and her plan for me and it has paid off big time. I'm an artist and I work on large-scale murals. I have two kids and I love travel, reading and hanging with friends and family. I was 3 months postpartum with my second child and I felt like I was ready to get fit again, but was worried about jumping into an exercise programme that I wasn't ready for and getting hurt or causing damage to myself. I felt like I needed specialised help from someone who understood postpartum bodies and advice I could trust. I was worried about spending the money and if I could trust Jody to work with me and achieve my goals. The initial phone call was really helpful at making me feel like I was understood and in good hands. Also, just working with you and starting to see progress was massively helpful. I am an oncology nurse working part time while juggling two young boys. I have always had very tight muscles and while working as a nurse I injured my back. I struggled with sacroiliac join pain during pregnancy and had back pain, very tight muscles, abdominal separation and very little core strength after pregnancy. I joined Jody because I needed to get my body back to a condition where I was able to care for my children and go back to work without discomfort. I worried that I would be pushed to do things beyond my ability and would end up with more injuries. Jody made it very clear at the start that all movement would be done within the scope of my body's ability to regain strength and fitness and avoid injury. I’ve become stronger and seen a reduction in pain. I’ve realised how important it is for me to move regularly. I’ve gained knowledge of my body's limits and capabilities. I’ve gained a sense of belonging and reduced anxiety. I’ve learnt prevention strategies for muscle tightness. I get to be part of a group of likeminded Mums who get to move, laugh, debrief, network and get stronger.
